Legal perspectives of violence against elderly people in paraguayan legislation

This article analyzes the regulations of conduct among family members and investigates policies to safeguard these people, focusing on events that constitute violence against elderly people. For this, legal systems of rights and fundamental freedoms inherent to all persons provided for in the National Constitution and other legal precepts are examined as basic sources of the analysis proposed for the purpose of distinguishing the scope of these norms that promote the protection of victims of violence verifying its joint and harmonious application in order to offer a criminal policy against abandonment to older adults in order to guarantee effective comprehensive protection; Current regulations are investigated, explaining how family violence is currently punished, carrying out an analysis of constitutional precepts and other regulations on the protection of the elderly. It is concluded for the purpose of finally polishing a greater protection of the elderly, promoting the effective dignified life provided in the National Constitution, proposing a proposal to modify the criminal framework of violence, including economic and patrimonial violence against the elderly as an aggravating factor.
