Success story: DEI Grapevine-Colleyville-Texas, USA, a model that could reduce school dropout in Paraguay

Abstract

The objective of this work was to show those who define educational policies in the country and interested people the benefits of the Educational System of the Independent School District of Grapevine-Colleyville - TEXAS, USA after the experience lived in an exchange of teachers carried out in the year 2017 that can be emulated in the educational system of the country. This District seeks to build excellent schools with the help of the entire educational community. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, through research on the official sites of the institutions on the educational system, as well as the participation of the students’ classes in person at the institutions that are part of the Independent School District for 4 weeks. The District has a 97% graduate rate, its teaching methods are constantly reviewed and in 2019 it obtained the highest rating from the S&P Global Rating Agency. On the other hand, the GreatSchools.org organization helps parents to know the rating of the schools and to choose the best one for their children through an evaluation that includes: a) Student Progress Rating or Academic Progress Rating, b) Readiness Rating University, c) Qualification of Equity and d) Qualification of Performance in the Tests contributing to the success of the System. Transparency generates trust, therefore, public educational organizations have an obligation to make data related to educational quality available to parents and the general public.
