Abstract

The study presents the “university extension: its contribution to the training of students in senior year of undergraduate degrees at the Universidad Iberoamericana, San Lorenzo branch.” In the process of construction, it is referred to a look that goes from the contexts of the university into the “University Extension”. The study objectives were to analyze the contribution of the extension program, describe the types and purposes of extension activities, determine the characteristics of extension activities and how university extension is managed. The study was a non-experimental design, descriptive type and mixed approach, qualitative / quantitative, was carried out taking with students of the 4th year, seventh semester and 5th year, ninth semester of the nine careers that the Universidad Iberoamericana. Eighty-five students surveyed, including the branch director and nine teachers from different careers. Surveys were used; interview and focus group and the data collection instruments applied to the study population were open questionnaires. The fieldwork took place in June 2018. The analysis of the responses revealed that the university does not have an organizational structure regarding university extension; there is a lack of knowledge of the extension program and its contribution to policies by teachers; Students are in the process of appropriation of university extension activities, putting what they have learned into practice.
