Abstract

Among measures to prevent and contain the Covid-19 health crisis include population confinement, with the consequent isolation and interruption of their usual activities. The study aims to analyze psychological distress during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The aim of the IMPACTCOVID-19 project is the impact on the psychological well-being assessment of the population during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A cross-sectional observational study was designed to be carried out in a total of 12 countries, spread over Europe, America, Africa, and Asia. Data were collected with a questionnaire developed ad hoc and the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12). Confidentiality and voluntary participation in the study were maintained at all times.
Preliminary results in the sample from Spain describe that 71.98% of the participants showed a risk of psychological distress. In addition, the reduction or a low level of economic income was consistently associated with a greater risk of psychological impact. Likewise, low levels of sense of coherence are associated with higher values of psychological distress, with distress decreasing as the level of sense of coherence increases.
Regarding the results obtained by the rest of the countries participating in the project, they are not yet available, since the implementation of the data collection was conditioned by the epidemiological situation of each country. However, at present, all countries are completing the field study phase, and will shortly begin the processes of analysis and dissemination of results to the international community.
