Abstract
The preparatory course is an admissions process implemented at many universities and higher education institutions, both public and private, in our country, but there is a lack of prior research on the outcomes regarding the achievements of applicants. The purpose of this study was to provide the institution with useful information regarding the assessments using technological tools applied in the Preparatory Entrance Course (CPI) for the Bachelor’s Degree in Basic School Education at INAES during 2020. This was a basic research study with a cross-sectional design and a qualitative, non-experimental approach that described the assessment process within an academic context. The sample included administrators and faculty members, who were interviewed, as well as applicants who participated in focus groups. Summative assessment predominated, complemented by formative and diagnostic assessments, which were conducted using the technological tools available at the institution. Faculty members valued the applicants’ adaptability, particularly their use of mobile devices for pedagogical purposes. The research revealed that the available technologies played an important role in adapting to the new teaching and learning conditions. Different technological tools were used to assess the applicants, who, despite initial difficulties, managed to develop the necessary competencies to face the challenges.
