Scientific academic output, strengths, and challenges in the Kinesiology and Physical Therapy program at a privately managed university, 2021–2024 period

Abstract
Scientific production is the way of presenting knowledge resulting from intellectual work through scientific research, which contributes to the development of science and improves people's living conditions. The objective of the study is to about academic production and scientific dissemination, its strengths and difficulties in kinesiology and physiotherapy at a private university, from 2021 to 2024. This was a quantitative, descriptive, retrospective study, using non-probability sampling for convenience. A survey was conducted among 10 professors and 86 students from the degree program who are involved in research. In addition, a documentary analysis of scientific academic productions from 2021 to 2024 was carried out. The results show that the majority follow the line of research in health promotion and kinephylaxis. Among the strengths noted by the students, 85% participated in research or extension projects, while 60% of the professors have time for research. In terms of weaknesses, students and professors do not form part of research groups, representing 86% and 80% respectively. In conclusion, it is evident that scientific academic production related to health promotion predominates. Among the strengths, are student participation in scientific events and the exclusive dedication of professors to accompanying research. Among the weaknesses, it is observed that most students and professors do not belong to research groups, and interdisciplinary research is scarce.
